Webster Geneva Campus summer class on Contemporary Moral Problems in Sustainability
visited a recycling company in Geneva. Students learned about recycling rules and
practices in Switzerland, discussed differences in their home countries, and toured
the facility. At this private enterprise the students received more information about
how small business owners in Switzerland may work with networks or associations of
their competitors, where all owners support one another and work together in their
sector. This Swiss small business mind-set of citizenship and a sense of responsibility
for what is good for the overall society as well as one's own profit margin was impressive
and unique for students to learn -- from a second small business owner in Geneva this
summer.
