Webster Geneva Campus sent a delegation of five international students from the U.S., Kazakhstan, India, Serbia and Botswana to the second annual Webster Model United Nations (WebMUN) conference at Webster University Vienna from October 17-20, 2015. This year’s conference focused on topic of Geopolitics of Resource Scarcity and provided the delegates with a first-hand experience of working in international affairs. Webster Geneva delegates Alexa Adams, Anaita Azizi, Akul Khullar, Gojko Sandic and Tsotlhe Taupedi attended the three-day conference sessions at the Palais Wenkheim along with more than 100 delegates from around the world. Supported by International Relations faculty, the conference sessions highlighted how nations conduct their foreign policy in pursuit of resources, and demonstrated the importance of understanding these issues.

Alexa Adams, a student currently at Webster Geneva for a study abroad semester, was awarded the Best Delegate of the Conference Award as well as the Honorable Mention for her work in the G7 Committee. Reflecting on her experience Alexa concluded, "Webster Model United Nations was an educational and rewarding experience. I got a chance to practice my debating skills, befriend students from around the world and broaden my understanding of the conference topic: resource scarcity. It is an issue of the utmost importance for the entire world and very timely considering the upcoming 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference. This simulation helped me and my fellow delegates learn first-hand how complex those negotiations are likely to be, and the global ramifications of international diplomacy."
