Paris Art Study Trip
The Intercultural History of Art class at Webster Geneva took a study trip to Paris from April 27-30, 2017, led by Dr. Maryvelma O’Neil (GCP).
Dr. O'Neil explained, "Paul Valéry, French poet/philosopher said, 'A work of art should always teach us that we have not seen what we see.' Our study trip tested that observation as we followed guided tours through the City of Art –l'Île de la Cité, Montmartre, Beaubourg and more."
"At our group dinner, students displayed the favorite paintings they had selected from the Louvre and Orsay Museums in order to complete analytical reports for submission. Eight nationalities joined heads to ponder, 'What is art?' The trip was truly an intercultural experience as we learned to see more deeply, broadly and critically."
