Creativity Symposium

On the 7th of December Webster Geneva Campus hosted a one-day international symposium on “Creativity, learning and technology”. This event was organized in partnership with the Center for the Science of Learning and Technology (SLATE), at the University of Bergen, Norway.

The event brought together leading speakers in the area of the symposium from six different countries, including Prof. Barbara Wasson and Dr. Ingunn Johanne Ness (University of Bergen, Norway), Dr. Vlad Glaveanu and Dr. Claude Chaudet (Webster Geneva Campus, Switzerland), Prof. Giovanni Corazza (University of Bologna & CINECA, Italy), Prof. Todd Lubart (Paris Descartes University, France), Prof. Chronis Kynigos (University of Athens, Greece), Dr. Andrea Gaggioli (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy), and Dr. Maciej Karwowski (University of Wrocław, Poland).

The symposium consisted of a series of short, keynote presentations (available for download here) as well as interactive, round table discussions on topics related to: the use of technology in education, art, and design; creativity and learning in education; creativity and virtual reality; technology-driven innovation in organizations and society, among others.

The event was very well attended by students and faculty from Webster Geneva Campus, guests from other universities represented at the event, as well as members of non-academic organizations and the local community.

Given the importance of studying the multiple intersections between creativity, learning and technology and the pressing need to harness the power of new technologies for creative learning – while avoiding its inherent pitfalls – we hope to co-organize a second edition of this symposium in 2018.
