Webster Geneva Research Festival

On January 24, 2018, Webster Geneva Campus hosted a research symposium in which students and faculty showcased their theses and projects from across all departments and degrees. The event began with introductory speeches from Dr. Clementina Acedo, the Director, and Dr. Dominique Jolly, Chair of the WSBT, and continued with nine presentations.

The first six speakers were undergraduate and graduate students. Anainta Azizi shared her Regional Analysis of the Post-Soviet Development in the Central Asian Countries. Merima Huseinovic spoke about researching to build and support her own educational YouTube channel - GetWisdom. Lucienne Bigler Perrotin introduced the audience to her work on “A living Experience of Humanbecoming”.

Youssef Awad, who graduated recently with an MBA, shared his insights into usage of financial tools in private equity and introduced the audience to his very own financial model. Akul Khular presented his investigation into the effects of financial shocks on the Indian stock market. Karlis Vasilevskis participated virtually and spoke about his research on Latvian reaction to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.

The event was concluded by speeches of three faculty members. Dr. Sarah Grosso introduced her research of women’s and men’s rights in Tunisia under Ben Ali’s regime, supported by quotes of real people undergoing divorce in this country. Professor Francesco Arese Visconti showcased his most recent photography collection which demonstrated his research into Italian Renaissance Art. Professor Phylis Ressler shared over the camera the Kanga Stories - her research of traditional African garment, origins of its patterns and applications.

The event highlighted the diverse research undertaken by the Webster Geneva Campus community members. We thank all the contributors and guests for making this event such a success.
