New Summer Dance Program Success
Department of Dance students enjoyed the inaugural eight-week summer study abroad course at Webster Geneva Campus from May 21 to July 13, 2018. The program was designed to provide both ballet courses and exposure to diverse cutting-edge European contemporary choreographers through a series of six international artists, bundled as a cluster of three individual courses.
This new study abroad dance program is a partnership between the Dance Department St. Louis, Webster Geneva Campus, and the Geneva Conservatoire populaire de musique, danse et théâtre. Ballet courses were taught by Graciela Acedo and guest artist Webster Unversity Geneva alumnus, Ramon Moraes. International dance classes were given by James Robey, associate professor and chair of the Department of Dance, along with three guest artists: Estelle Bovay, Vittorio Bertolli, Luciana Reolon.
“This collaboration offers our dance majors a one-of-a-kind opportunity to study European Contemporary Dance in Geneva, Switzerland,” says James Robey. “It is exciting to see them engaging with the faculty, the beautiful campus, and the culture of this amazing city.”
