Glaveanu Presents at the 16th ICIE conference in Paris Descartes University
Dr. Vlad Glaveanu, Head of the Department of Psychology and Counselling, gave an invited
keynote titled ‘Inspired to create’ at the 16th ICIE conference Excellence, Innovation
& Creativity in Basic-Higher Education & Psychology that took place at the Paris Descartes
University in Paris between 3-6 of July. Dr. Glaveanu offered a scientific examination
of inspiration, a phenomenon that attracted considerable attention in religion and
philosophy but relatively little research in psychology and creativity studies. He
also offered a workshop, ‘Inspired to create’, for conference participants, and chaired
the symposium ‘Talking about creative potential: Insights from psychological science’.
The International Centre for Innovation in Education (ICIE) is a leading international
association bringing together educators and psychologists from around the world for
its annual conferences. ICIE is a partner of our Webster Center for Creativity and Innovation (WCCI).
O’Neil participates in Summer Institute at the National Humanities Center in North
Carolina
From 16-20 July 2018 Dr. Maryvelma O’Neil participated in a two-year Summer Institute
on Objects, Places, and the Digital Humanities at the National Humanities Center in
North Carolina funded by the Mellon Foundation. The theme of this year’s institute
was Modeling and Material Culture. Tutorials focused on 3D Modeling, Augmented and
Virtual Reality and Photogrammetry. Dr. O’Neil has received a Webster Research Grant
as well as a PARC/NEH/FPIRI Fellowship (2018-2019) for the project “Digitally Mapping
the Illés Maquette: Bringing Palestinian History to Digital Life.”
Jancikova Book Publication
Dr. Aleksandra Jancikova, Assistant Professor and Director of Corporate Partnerships
at Webster Geneva Campus, recently published her book, Agility management - the
necessity to succeed in today’s unpredictable and fast-changing world. The book explores
the changes governments in Europe need to embrace to be able to meet the development
and integration challenges of the 21st century, agility applications in the political
domain, along with a guide to the transformation of the governmental structures.
Glaveanu Joins Board for the Journal 'Mind, Culture, and Activity'
Vlad Glaveanu, Head of the Psychology and Counseling Department at Webster University, was invited to become member of the editorial board for the journal Mind, Culture, and Activity (MCA), published by Taylor & Francis. MCA is an international forum for the publication of peer-reviewed articles that examine the relationships between the human mind, the sociocultural environments they inhabit, and the way that mind and culture are constituted in a wide variety of human activities. The journal published the following types of articles: substantial contributions that present theoretical research or syntheses of theoretical and empirical research devoted to a significant topic; commentaries responding to articles published in MCA; creative works as well as book reviews. It had a cumulative 5 year impact factor (in 2017) of 1.543.
