Hunt-Matthes Attends Irish Defence Forces Review Launch
Caroline Hunt-Matthes attended the launch of the Irish Defence Forces Review on Nov.
22 in Galway Ireland. Her publication on "Safe Reporting Channels in Humanitarian
Space"- A core protection Challenge was debated at the conference. The event was hosted
by the President of National University Ireland Galway, Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh
and the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces: Vice Admiral Mark Mellett DSM of the
Naval Service. The publication edited by commandant Rory Finegan and Professors Ray
Murphy, Professor Brendan Flynn and Niall O Dochartaigh is recognized as a leader
in international affairs thought leadership. The Irish Defence forces are celebrating
their 60th year of UN peacekeeping this year.
Paula Dias Leite Gives Guest Lecture on Visual Storytelling and New Technologies
On Oct. 19, photographer and researcher, Paula Dias Leite, gave a guest talk at Webster
Geneva Campus on ethics and new technologies in visual storytelling. The talk took
place in the class Introduction to Mass Communications taught by Dr. Sarah Grosso
in the Media Communications Department.
Drawing on her experience as a photojournalist for the leading Brazilian broadsheet O Estado de Sao Paulo, for which she covered the London bombings, and as a photo editor for Reuters in London, she explained the importance and power of narrative in photojournalism. Dias Leite also presented a prototype of an innovative app she has created entitled “Augmented Democracy” reflecting on the role of new technologies in the recent Brazilian elections.
The Palgrave Handbook of Social Creativity Research Published
The Palgrave Handbook of Social Creativity Research has just been published and was edited by Izabela Lebuda, University of Wroclaw,
and Vlad Glăveanu, Head of the Department of Psychology and Counseling and Director
of the Webster Center for Creativity and Innovation (WCCI) at Webster Geneva Campus. This Handbook brings together an international cast of
experts to explore the social nature and context of creativity studies, focusing on
methodology as a key component in advancing the social study of creativity. Two decades
on from the pioneering work of Alfonso Montuori and Ronald E. Purser, the authors
present a timely appraisal of past and present work in social creativity studies,
and look ahead to future developments within this field.
