Covid-19: Campus Preparations for Fall

Here’s the latest on how we’ve adapted to the new context, and how we are preparing campus for the new semester.

First, Webster Geneva Campus’s Task Force has implemented several steps and new procedures (see Campus Actions & New Procedures), and is closely following guidelines of the local Geneva and Swiss federal authorities. We continue to prepare our facilities, to adjust campus policies and to invest in additional technology for hybrid teaching (face to face and remote access) in the Fall.

We have many advantages at Webster: our average class size is just 14 students, our residence halls are all single rooms, and our university has extensive experience with (and systems to support) remote and online teaching.

Our size, location, flexible approach and our full American Accreditation has also made the University more attractive for first-year students who will now be delaying their enrollments at U.S. or Canadian universities, since they can start here and transfer to universities abroad in 2021.

Webster is also a campus community that greatly values student engagement. So while we will support remote access and hybrid learning models, we will also endeavor to maximize student engagement in spite of the coronavirus dynamic.

New and returning students will be given additional information regarding the practicalities of daily classes, whether they attend our on-site or online Fall orientation. We appreciate the support of students, faculty and staff in advance for respecting new campus guidelines as we work to that end, and we remain an open and inclusive campus.
