Program at Webster Geneva Campus, presented his groundbreaking research at the 7th
edition of the Italian Diasporas – Italy in Movement conference. The event took place
from Dec. 5-7, at the Museo Nazionale della Emigrazione Italiana in Genova, Italy.
This prestigious conference, organized in collaboration with institutions such as
the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute (Queens College, CUNY), CO.AS.IT.
Italian Assistance Association (Melbourne), and MUNTREF Museo de la Universidad Nacional
de Tres de Febrero (Buenos Aires), centered around the theme Representation and Questions
of Identity.
Arese Visconti’s presentation focused on his recent research into 21st-century Italian
migrants in the Arc Lémanique region of Switzerland. His interdisciplinary approach
combined photography, portraiture and cultural identity to explore the evolving narratives
of migration.
The study delved into the representation of Italian migrants through archival imagery
and original photographic portraits, challenging traditional narratives and shedding
light on the complex identities of contemporary Italian diasporas.
